It’s like walking on nails that are balanced on the point. I can feel the security underneath my feet, yet I cannot escape this constant reminder that if my next step is wrong, or too heavy, the nails will turn over and everything will crash down underneath me. I can’t help but think of all the others that would be able to do this correctly, walk this path with the confidence that their next step will always be stable.
When you walk with me, the nails are pushed down into the ground and the world is such a calmer place. My focus is not on myself, my next move, but on how nice the sunlight looks reflected onto all the tiny silver medallions underneath my feet. Medals of my past, reminders that things will not always be perfect.
We do not have to be alone in our paths. I’m happy.
